Opening Doors Project

Havant Volunteer Centre’s Opening Doors Project
Rowlands Home Hardware Store has donated tools and equipment for the Opening Doors Gardening Project.
Following on from the Urban Challenge in October last year the tools, ranging from garden spades, hoes, gloves and watering cans will enable volunteers from the Beacon Furniture Shop to maintain the two raised flower beds in Market Parade and North Street.

Janet Duggan, the Opening Doors Project Worker, gave a presentation in January to Community First (Havant & Bedhampton Community Forum) requesting funds for the garden initiative. The group successfully approached local businesses in the PO9 area with Rowlands Home Hardware kindly donating garden tools to the project. “We were thrilled that a local business has supported our project which will enable unemployed people to learn
new skills and make a difference to the local environment” said Janet.

The Opening Doors Gardening Project would welcome any spring plants.

If you would like to find out more about the project or make a donation,
please contact Janet Duggan on 023 9248 1845 or email openingdoors@havantccs.org.uk.
