NHS Surrey urges screening as "Jade Goody effect" wears off

NHS Surrey has renewed its efforts to get more people in for cervical screening, after the “Jade Goody effect” begins to wear off. Screening shot up when the reality TV star died last year, but one in four aged 25 to 49 are still putting themselves ta risk by not having smear tests. New maternity wards for East Surrey Hospital

East Surrey Hospital in Redhill has refurbished two side rooms in its neonatal unit, to created new facilities for a hospital’s maternity and gynaecology units, turning them into modern areas where parents can stay overnight and get extra support with a newborn baby. Royal Surrey doctors on call in El Salvador

Medical staff from the Royal Surrey County Hospital are preparing for a trip to a war-torn country in Central America to train doctors there. The group led by retired GP Chris Jagger, will take the group of 10 El Salvador on February 10 and spend a fortnight in Hospital Nacional Rosales in San Salvador. 20 ill children were treated to a special party at Harrods in London. The kids, who are all being treated at the Outwood Ward of East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, were welcomed to the store with their families and hospital staff for a special breakfast followed by a morning of entertainment and activities. MPs' support for community hospitals campaign

Esher and Walton MP Ian Taylor and Guildford MP Mrs Milton have pledged their support to a campaign launched in opposition to changes to the county’s community hospitals. New transplant technique will benefit local kidney patients

A pioneering transplant technique is giving kidney patients a new hope. The new technique which allows surgeons to transplant a kidney from donor to recipient even if their blood types do not match.
