Met Police learn about mental health issues
29/07/2010

The West London Mental Health NHS Trust has recently begun working with the Metropolitan Police to help them understand more mental health ans what they do as a trust.

The Police Familiarisation Scheme give the police the opportunity to meet staff and see where they may have to bring someone under section 136 of the Mental Health Act (removing a mentally ill person from a public place to a place of safety).

Five familiarisation sessions have been run so far, educating about 60 officers. This new found relationship with the Police has lead to a greater understanding of mental health and the people who are suffering from it.
