Do you feel the NHS in your area provide a sub-standard service for end of life care and how do you feel it can be improved?

I recommend that everybody with an interest in ELC reads  "Compassionate Cities" by Prof. Allan Kellehear.
Prf. Kellehear argues that communities need to take an holistic view of what is needed for ELC. It is impossible to provide a brief summary but he is of the opinion that all parts of the community, not just health and social care have a part to play.
As a "starter for ten" it would be useful to get health and social care working together. There is a large gap caused by the perception that you need to be in hospital if you are dying and the fact that research has shown that the majority of people wish to die at home.

I think it would be a greater start still were various PCTs able to talk to each other in a meaningful and productive way.

Better still for them to deal with issues of what to do in PCT boundaries where NHS administrative partitions (eg PCTs) work very hard at turning those administrative partitions into barriers against continued or effective care.
